Rowan Digital Works hits Four Million Downloads milestone

Rowan University Libraries is excited to share with the university community that our open access institutional repository, Rowan Digital Works, has had over four million downloads worldwide since its launch in 2015. Rowan Digital Works is an online platform managed by Rowan University Libraries that makes the university’s research available to the world and allows work to be discovered and indexed in Google Scholar.

Content showcasing Rowan’s rapidly expanding research enterprise includes scientific research articles published by our faculty with Open Access licenses; Rowan master’s theses and doctoral dissertations; graduate student, post-doctoral fellow, and medical student research posters; and slide decks from many conferences held at Rowan University. In addition, Rowan Digital Works hosts two scholarly journals as well as an open educational resource collection of computer science textbooks and environmental humanities course materials created by faculty.

Rowan Digital Works content has been downloaded over 387,000 times since January 1 of this year. As of July 1, 2024, Rowan Digital Works contained 5855 individual content items created by Rowan faculty and students, with 595 newspapers, theses, or posters deposited since January 1, 2024. Our Researcher Support Services team members Denise Brush, Institutional Repository & Data Curation Librarian, and Ben Saracco, Scholarly Publishing & Open Research Librarian, work behind the scenes every week with support from their colleagues  Marlowe Bogino (CMSRU), Dan Kipnis (Campbell), and Lisa Price (RV-SOM), uploading content to Rowan Digital Works to keep this repository growing. If you have questions or would like to find out if your work can be included, please contact us at rdw@rowan.edu.
