The Tiniest Library for Our Little Owls

As renovations transform Campbell Library into the Library of the Future, library staff have found creative ways to stay connected with the magic of print books—thanks to the Tiny Library Initiative.

The Tiny Library is a mobile browsing collection that brings a curated selection of books straight to the Rowan community—right where they are.

But on June 12, the Tiny Library reached its smallest audience yet: the Little Owls of Rowan’s Early Childhood Demonstration Center (ECDC).

Affectionately dubbed “The Tiniest Library,” this special visit brought storytime and summer reading to the ECDC preschoolers. Library staff members Abigail Hummel-Bell and Ash Lierman brought a collection of brand-new picture books for the Little Owls to explore—and even check out themselves.

“It was super cute and a great time,” said Education Librarian, Ash Lierman. “Especially since they can’t visit the library this summer.”

The visit included a story about a summer camping trip, sparking excitement for the months ahead. The Tiniest Library plans to return to the Little Owls later this summer.
